Cardiac Tutor
Overview
real-world intelligent simulation of human physiology teaches a topic when it is relevant. This simulation models an emergency room environment, general patient status and causal model of cardiac function and related physiologic systems. The tutor reasons about medical constraints of cardiac arrests and customizes its teaching for individual students.

The Cardiac Tutor reasons about medical constraints of cardiac arrests and forms
goals to
teach specific topics to individual students. The integrated simulation and planner teaches a new concept only when the real-time simulation reaches a state where that concept is relevant to the students. New training scenarios are generated based on the system’s reasoning about the user’s learning needs. The system includes an accurate descriptive model of the emergency room environment and general patient status combined with a causal model of cardiac function and related physiologic systems.
